2002: Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, Boston College. Included year-long supervised internships at Stoney Brook in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Massachusetts General Hospital's Boston Evening Medical Center, and the University of Maine College Counseling Center.
1995: Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology, Boston College. Included a supervised practicum, completed at Wheaton College Guidance Services in Norton, Massachusetts.
In the course of her doctoral study, Dr. Finlayson-Fife focused her training on marriage and family relationships and wrote her dissertation on the topic of women and sexuality in long-term relationships. In addition to having taught several college-level courses on human sexuality, she teaches a community-based marriage and family relationships course, in which she teaches couples how to listen, communicate and resolve differences, as well as rebuild intimacy and connection with one another. She has received certification in treating men who batter, as well as HIV counseling. Dr. Finlayson-Fife has seven years of clinical experience.
